VOD do you know any good sites?

8 years, 2 months ago - Jane Sanger

A previous post prompted me to ask if any film makers would kindly share info as there is non publicly available.

Would you be willing to say your films budget, genre and what VOD channel you used and the return you got

I think some info gathered would greatly help other film makers make decisions. Thank you

I believe VOD is still in it's infancy but I would love to know if any good returns have happened or similarly any bad stories.

Hi there, we use reelhouse.org & vimeo on demand for our catalogue of films. Had great results with reelhouse so far, and they have been really responsive to suggestions and needs of producing films in several languages.

to add to my note, it isn't really in its infancy anymore, and the increasing amount of content means we get less return than we did a few years ago, but both platforms are very easy to use and you don't have to go through complicated submissions processes like you do for itunes.

A filmmaker I follow on facebook put something up about this subject the other day. He self distributed on Amazon, got 16,000 views in the first month and from his sums he worked out that every time someone watches 1 hour of one of his films on Amazon he gets 4p

Hi Richard,

Got a few films on Amazon... I think the 4p is generous. There's American tax withholding which needs to be deducted. When I worked it out my end it looked more like 3p per viewing.

They also don't allow 4:3 to be in HD, which is a real shame.

Thanks everyone 3p or even 4p for 16,000 views is z return of about £5-600 not much but something. Hardly going to cover film making costs. Katie might you be prepared to give your figures for reelport no if views and return per film. Ben would you be willing to state on amazon as you have a few films on there what kind of views you get over a year.....longer? How do you get your film on Amazon in the first place?
