Voice over 'Showreel' Is this what making a voice over presentation is called and does anyone have any advice on all aspects including script/types?

I have been asked to provide a voice over presentation and wondered how you go about it. I have the voice but know little else about Script for this particular genre, publicising agents and type of file to record it in etc-help!

Many thanks

Russ

It's not totally clear from your post what you need. Who has asked you for the voicereel? What kind of work is it? Do they just want a sample of your voice or have they given you a script? etc. Feel free to drop me an email - mattjamie@hotmail.com www.mattjamie.co.uk/reels

Hi Russ, feel free to listen to by voice reels if it gives you an idea: www.voices.com/people/deborahklayman and click on demos.

If it is a voice reel you need you will need to select pieces and then record them in good quality - either in a studio or through a friend that has high enough spec equipment. If the presentation is something other than a voice reel I would also need more info.

In terms of agents, you would use your voice reel to approach them. Voices.com, Voice123 and voices pro are all sites for finding work without a voice agent, but most charge and would expect you to have some pro credits.

For scripts, I selected some of my own and had others suggested to me by the person who did my showreel. I would have highly recommended him, but unfortunately he died a few years ago.

I normally send my files in MP3, but it depends on the client - some want wav or aiff. You can also upload sound files to sites like 'Sound Cloud' and email links.

Hope some of this is helpful,

Regards,

Debs
