Hi Paul, you can actually advertise for crew under production/get people above. It really helps to describe your project, it's length, artistic reasons why people may be interested, etc., and be specific about which crew you need.
Honestly though, I think you'll find it tough getting anyone to commit to 8 weekends unpaid - that's either going to overlap with a paid job for a professional, or eat 2 whole months (a sixth of a year!) of free time for anyone 9-5ing doing it for experience. It means no weekends away, no drinking on Friday nights for an early Saturday, no taking kids to football, not going out at Halloween, not going to bonfire night firework events, you get the idea. It's one heck of an ask without any more incentive such as the genre, who else is involved, etc.
I'm guessing this is a first-time project, and you're making a feature? Have you considered making a 3' short over a weekend instead? Much easier to get crew for a single weekend, and you'll meet people you want to work with again rather than advertising for a whole crew. You could even pay them a little with what you'll save. Also, unless you're not expecting to use any lights/hired kit whatsoever, 8 weekends might work out a very expensive way of hiring it!

Hey Paddy
Thanks for the message. This is our third feature film. We made two last year and one of them has already been accepted in The Coventry Film Festival garnering an award for our lead actress. The other has just been signed for a distribution deal with a company in Norway,
We've not had any problems with crewing before and we are using SHOOTINGPEOPLE for the first time. We're still not sure whether its the right place for us. It falls between two stools, one for those who work 'professionally' and those who are starting out.
I am sure that if people are serious about what they want to do that missing out drinking, bonfire, and halloween is a very small price to pay. And the reason for posting on this was that the other way with shooting people means you have to enter each position separately time consuming and irritating.
We have all our own gear and kit so hiring is not an issue for us either.
