We need crowd funding advice! How do you get people to invest in your campaign?!

Hi!

(Okay, so this may be less rant, more polite pondering...)

We are in the middle of an indiegogo campaign for a Web series called Kill Day.

We've made a promo, a pitch and a funny comedy skit to draw attention to our work. We asked friends and friends of friends to view, share and contribute, we'eve tweeted the world and its wife, we've added the video on lots of sites, entered forums and started sharing other peoples work that we think is worth being funded. We've explained the rewards separately on social media platforms so that people can understand the process more and we've sent out press releases and written to entrepreneurs.

We've had interest and good responses, yet, but so far despite many promises to the contrary, people are not putting their money where their mouth is.

How do we get people to make that final step? And how do we drive traffic to indiegogo or our site without spending so much money that we may as well self fund?

Up until now, our previous shorts, features and plays have been 100% self funded. We've got great feedback on our work, from audience and professionals alike and have been selected for festivals etc but we've run out of money and this idea is 'the idea' we just can't cut any more corners on. We have worked out the bare minimum we need to make it, however, so far are falling so short we are on our faces in the dirt screaming, 'Just leave me!' as the world is set on fire.

Any advice, be it people to bug, companies to ask, producers who can work a bit of magic or anything we can do or change within what we have already to make it work, would be ridiculously welcome!

its an interesting idea, but unfortunately its been already done. check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0LLaybEuzA The Purge. I know your film may be different, maybe more comedy like... but still its really similar to this American film.

Well, to be honest we did cry when we saw the Purge being advertised! A lot of hush hush about our project which has been three years in the writing/planning felt like it had gone down the drain because a big company had a close version of our idea.
But there was no way we were giving up on something so personal to us. Besides rarely any idea is original, it's how you approach it right? Purge took this concept and went in the home invasion route; we have gone in a dark comedy and offbeat indie route. We invite the comparison because lets face it; it may help people to watch our stuff, but ‘it's been done’ could be said about pretty much every film/Tv series ever made.
We wont give up because someone pipped us to the post, marathon not sprint and all that jazz! This series will be awesome in its own right and we have faith to stand by it… just no money! lol

Over the various social networks we're on, we've got approximately a 1,000 different contacts? Thanks for the suggestion about perk tiers, we'll have a look at that!

I have one suggestion, gleaned from my efforts to promote anything, from promoting an event to fundraising from local businesses, running an online crowdfunding campaign. The way to get people interested was to find the leaders that would bring other people with them if they were interested. If your film is focuses on classic cars, finding the local events, finding out the organisers, giving them special perks to look at your site and decide if they are interested. If they are, are they willing to recommend your site and campaign to all the people who look up to or depend on them

How many people do you have in your social networks?

Also, you may have tiered your perks a little low - an EP credit for £100??? I would suggest that this should have been at least £500...
