INDEXWhat projects are you making?

Hi everyone,
I’m in post production on a short film which I’ve been slogging away at for far too long... but it should be finished next week (fingers crossed)!
I was talking about this with the SP team and it got us wondering, what are you making right now?
It would be super interesting to hear if you're in development on a script or are going into production. Have any of you got a few of projects on the go? Or are any of you stuck in post-production like me? Relentlessly pressing random buttons on Premiere, hoping the project won’t crash, again…

Hey, I'm working on a couple of feature scripts at the moment, which means a fair amount of procrastinating and forcing myself to write :-) One of them is just about finished so hoping I can get it made soon.

Hi Xenia,
I'm currently animating a 6min short film funded with the BFI called Reach. We're hoping to be done in December 2022.
Mainly working in After Effects and half of the character animation is done so just slogging away on the rest.
We have a great music composer on board, Daniel Patrick-Murrell, and are currently looking for a sound designer.

Hey Kayleigh, this sounds amazing! My short has animation in it too, and I'm not an animator, so that was a learning curve haha. I know a great sound designer, I'll send you their details as a direct message :) Xenia

Hi Xena
I have an LGBT+ short film project ("And Then There Was Him" in the Script Pitch section) that I'm working on at the moment. I'm looking to direct and co-produce with the aim to start shooting next year.
I'm also writing a feature-length script for my previous LGBT+ short film which is close to a first draft. I'm hoping to have it finished by spring.

Hi Xenia:
I'm also post-producing my comedy-drama short film atm, just wanna make it right! It's now in the final edit so shouldn't take too long to push it into screenings. What's your plan with your short film?
best

Hi Marta, do you know about SP's Script Pitch platform? You can use it to promote your work to producers and other filmmakers. It's a good online tool to use for pitching: https://shootingpeople.org/scriptpitch/pitch/
Good luck!

Hi Xenia,
Greetings from California. Happy to report I just wrapped up my first ever paid screenwriting gig! I've also been pitching a sci-fi/comedy TV series to producers, and currently putting a pitch deck together for a second sci-fi show. Some good meetings, but so far no takers. Even so, these are all career firsts for me. Pretty exciting, especially the getting paid part.
I'm also in pre-production on my first new short film in a few years, THE ORIGINAL COPY. More sci-fi! To promote that, and my other films and scripts, I recently rebuilt my website: it's www.johnfilms.com in case people would like to have a look.
Thanks for asking, and all the best!

Hi Xenia
Your post rang a familiar bell. Before I delete the word "Semi" from my current status as "Semi-Retired", as I approach a milestone age later this month, back in May, I directed the shoot of one of the short drama film screenplays I have written called Now, at last I am looking through the rushes to create a log in preparation for the edit. Worrying about the results and with no demanding schedule, it has taken me several weeks for me to sit down and start this process. Finally, however, I have started this morning - onwards and upwards! I sympathise with your technical concers as these seem to be enfdless these days, despite advanced technology. I have alsojust started writing a feature screenplay or television series script. Writing is certainly a very different experience from the one of my career - screen drama directing. Good luck with completing your project. Nicholas Prosser : E-Mail nicholas.prosser@gmail.com

For the past few years I've been kept busy mentoring/teaching filmmaking and photography (from script to screen) in schools while doing community and local arts promos. This, and being based in a small town, has side-lined anything of my own.
Then 'lockdown' hit. A new surge of personal creativity, a comic strip, script writing/re-writing and a couple of 48 Hour Filmmaking Challenges have re-vitalised ambitions. Great judge reviews from the most recent helped.. cue trumpet - 'Exceptional filmmaking' 'made with style and flair' - and, must say, having one of the regular viewers recognise my work/style without the need to wait for the credits was most pleasing.
So, just submitted a couple of short scripts to competitions, working on a pilot built around the wider world of the most recent 48 Hour, looking into crowd funding and reviewing original feature scripts that were shelved.
So far as post - will be tidying up the 48 Hour edit and submitting to festivals - taking a fresh look at the other 48 Hour and considering cutting a showreel. The 48 Hour is listed on my film page for those interested - the rules were - 11am Saturday - given a title (The Shutdown), a prop (which had to be found) an action associated with the prop (we were given - a character wears two watches, looks at them) - a line of dialogue (Ha, and that makes two. Outstanding) and an optional theme - which we also met. Finished film delivered by 11am Monday

Hi Xenia,
I'm working on a feature film, an animated fantasy story for children. I'm currently redeveloping the script. My main problem is the stakes. They're too low right now.
What about you - have you finished your short film?
