What reliable international directory can I use to source crew and equipment Internationally?

10 years, 10 months ago - Alex di Martino

We shoot in Europe and many times we need to hire crew members and/or equipment (cameras, grip, lights, etc...) locally. We usually rely for this on word of mouth and friends. I also tried Mandy a few times but it seems to me that it is heavily advertisement driven and it doesn't feel easy to judge the quality of the crew or service offered.

Have you got any suggestion please?

Many thanks!
Alex

I'm stuck in Switzerland Alex, may be able to ask around when you need anyone here.

I guess each country has its own habits in terms of where crew professionals meet on/offline. There are agencies specialized in crew, right? Or you may have to watch films from each region to pick the people that seem to have done a good job together?

Did a quick search came up with this thread: http://www.englishforum.ch/employment/177128-finding-film-production-crew.html but this organisation may be able to tell you more thoroughly where to look: http://www.swissfilms.ch/

Not being able to go to the UK anymore without funding, I'd like to have a short made here, too...

In France you could try these people. http://www.productionsobritish.com/
They provide French crew for British productions and vice versa.
