What’s more important? The Movie or the Business?

Anyone else heard about the latest Spielberg film about aliens and robots? It’s called Robocalypse (yes that really is the title) and it’s based on a book which is based on...well, Terminator.

Genuinely thought this was a terminator/ I robot/ matrix spoof from the people who do the ‘scary movie’ franchise until I saw who was attached to direct. Did no one in Dreamworks and 20th century fox think the title’s just a little bit silly?!

I guess the slightly easier to say ‘Robocaylpse’ was already taken as it’s a video game... not that they were too fussed that the premise was already taken.

As far as the masses were concerned George Lucas got away with ‘star wars’ being a rip off (sorry, inspired by) Kurosawa’s hidden fortress and Lucas and Spielberg got away with ‘Indiana Jones’ being a rip off (sorry, I’ve done it again, Inspired by) Allan Quatermain because they weren’t very famous (not worldwide anyway) but I think a few people might notice the similarities between Robopocalypse and the Terminator franchise.

Why doesn’t Hollywood start making films with original concepts? I guess stuff like this is a safe bet. Terminator made loads of money so why shouldn’t this.

So a two fingered salute to Hollywood. I won’t be forking out for a cinema ticket...

...although to be fair I’ll probably rent it on love film. Doh!

You know what actually matters?

A good story well told.

Nothing else.
