INDEXWhat's the current consensus of Shooters being hit up with crowd funding posts?

I've been away for a while from Shooters and have now arrived back with a knowledge gap. I know sometime back when Ben Blaine was blogging his movie via a crowd funding site, a few people were getting annoyed. Some not also. I for one actually signed up to his movie money request. Anyway, how has the conversation progressed since, if at all?
I'm co-producing a 10 part TV series in the vein of '24 meets Spooks meets Homeland' that has finished shooting and is looking for completion funds. Broadcaster is attached.
Are you guys going to tear me a new one for promoting it?
Welcome your thoughts.

Hey Paddy. Nice to see that you're still around :)
The broadcaster didn't finance the series, they have picked it up for distribution. But there is a need for several pickups and additional post as part of the requirement of delivery.
I take it then that there are no ongoing issues with promoting a crowd source project to Shooters?

I personally never have a problem with someone asking for money, if it's a new thread and clear from the topic title. After all, when it comes to low budget films, money is what people can provide if they can't bring skills/time :-)

If you've a broadcaster attached, why do you need crowd funding gap finance?

Hiya,
Yep you see the odd 'please back me' post, not sure how successful they are though.
If the broadcaster is paying further down the line, you could gap fund with a loan. If they're not paying you at all then can you get sponsorship by using the broadcaster name to approach companies? If, for instance, you're on E4 at 8pm on a Thursday night, that slot will have a certain viewer profile which may be of interest to sponsors or product placers (with PP ident to stay legit!)
