Where can I find prosthetic penises (for a film, obviously)

9 years, 11 months ago - Josie Parkinson

Hiya gang,

I'm the production designer on a low budget short - I've got about £1,000-1,200 to play with for all the sets and props.
Does anyone know how I'd go about finding a prosthetic penis? I've already ruined my browser history by Googling it, but all I can find are either crazy strap-ons or ones that are several hundred quid and we'd have to ship from America, which I'd rather not do.
Can anyone who's worked with prosthetics before help me out with some advice on sourcing them?

Thanks!
J

If you don't mind a bit of a wait and you're happy with a rubber one you could try here: http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=rubber+penis

http://whitewizardsworkshop.webs.com/ can do amazing things with latex, and I know he does a lot of theatre props. I doubt that he has one laying around, but can probably give you a reasonable maker quote

Foam and latex props can be quite expensive - a tomato is costing us £80, for instance. If you can get to Soho and have a wander around some of the shops there it'll doubtless be cheaper, if you can find something good enough.

One challenge, delicately put, is that the male member has more than one state, so you'll need to be specific when ordering a lifecast

We used one on a feature I DoP'd last year - if it's still around I'll as if you can use it. It's in this clip:

If you email me - christritschler@virginmedia.com I can pass you onto the the producer who may still have it.

Best, Chris.
