Where can one get free or cheap script feedback? Best things in life are free? Maybe not.

8 years, 9 months ago - Nat Nollid

Hi Shooters,

I am looking for script feedback on a script I've written that I want to send off to producers if they show interest. I had interest at a pitch fest but script wasn't written then. Where can I get feedback on its merits? Some script consultants will just be critical for critiques sake I'm told.
Anyone who can recommend or is willing to read a feature script - Sci fi RomCom genre- please let me know. I would also offer to read your script as a favour too. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount as a last resort too. Am also willing to explore option to collaborate with a fellow writer as 2 brains better than one.

Thanks
Nat

HI Nat, I've been mentoring and script editing for around ten years. I work for a production company script editing for them and free lance. I'm pretty reasonable and can give excellent references.

I tend to work in Sci-Fi psychological thriller and RomCom.

All the best. Shirley

Hi Nat,

My name is Andrew, I run a production company up in Glasgow, but I've worked as a freelance script editor and reader for over a decade.

We do free readings for short film scripts under 20 pages, and for feature scripts we offer a few options depending on what you need the report for. We also offer 10% to SP members!

Check out our script page at http://www.rainfirefilms.com/scripts/

Good luck,

Andrew

Hi Nat,

Euroscript has a roster of highly professional editors who can help in a variety of ways. We have close relationships with the BFI and London Screenwriters's Festival, where we are the one organisation trusted to work as 'script doctors' for attendees. Since we are all writers, we know what it's like to receive feedback and all our advice is couched in helpful and postive terms - we are NEVER critical for the sake of it, only to help the story onto its next level.

Very best,

Hi Nat. We deliver 20 script development services, for a broad range of clients.

We're not at the cheaper end of the market, so may not be for you if you're budget is particularly tight, but take a look at the 20 services, and our client reviews, and get in touch if you have any questions >> http://screenplayscripts.com/product-category/script-reports/

Nat, I'm a scriptwriter and editor. The best thing to do is to join a writers group - check out Meetups and see what's going on in your area. It's really not worth paying for feedback until your script is absolutely as good as you can get it - unless you have money to burn. There's also The Blacklist - you can get a basic report for about $25 - but know this is from a student and it's pretty general.

Try joining Bang2Write on Facebook and ask other writers there to read your script in return for you reading theirs

Hi Nat,
Robert Hardy from https://filmmakersprocess.com/ runs a member service, where you get feedback in scripts for a small monthly fee. The blog also has inspiring articles about making short films. Hope this helps.
Best,
Christian

Hi Nat,
Happy to have a read and give you some feedback gratis. Call it solidarity amongst writers. Have a look at my profile to see if you think it would be worthwhile - Richard

One of the respected screenwriting competitions that offer feedback & run by the brother of the late Seymour Hoffman.

http://www.bluecatscreenplay.com

Feedback is obviously in the eye of the holder so always best to get a few feedbacks.

Another respected competition offering feedback is Page

https://pageawards.com

Early entry is better for reduced fees etc, but I have found in the past the feedback to be incredibly helpful. Best of luck. Cheers Tony
