Which are the best competitions for TV drama screenwriting?

11 years, 10 months ago - Nicky Tate

My writing partner and I have a pilot screenplay underway for a TV drama series. TV isn't a world I am particularly well acquainted with at the moment; I can see each channel will have their own commissioning processes so obviously will jump those hoops in due course.

I have seen that there are quite a few competitions, both UK and international for TV pilot scripts - sometimes asking an entry fee in exchange for feedback. Just curious as to which of these are the most well regarded and any to avoid. I know Scriptapalooza is a famous one but we won't be ready this time around for that.

Any pointers appreciated.

The Red Planet is superb, as is Channel 4's (due now - but must be suitable for Channel 4's style) and both are free and highly regarded. if you did well in these it's a big credit to have.

Good luck :)
