I wrote to the Chancellor suggesting that as a temp measure, (to April 2023), they allow the TV tax relief to apply to production of ANY budget level if commissioned by a serious UK broadcaster.

I pointed out that the contingency variable costs of allowing for possible cast illness and isolation (covid is an excluded risk now for insurance purposes, and that won't change until we have a vaccine) will mean that it becomes very hard for funders to commit properly to new starts until at least early 2021.

By allowing the tax credit, in effect that becomes a contingency fund sufficient to allow productions to proceed that might otherwise get canned.

Then usual stuff about maintaining employment ready to take advantage of recovery, and keep leading place in world etc.

Would do no harm for lots of other people to do similar...
