The Drills of Afi Mountain

From Jonathan Hamer

About the film:

In Nigeria’s last primary rainforest, the drill monkey is rapidly losing its home. As the walls close in, one group of conservationists are about to attempt the largest captive primate release ever, with 200 drills to be released.

The music was a mixture of soundscapes, African and orchestral instruments. For the climax of the film where the drills are released I collaborated with a Senegalese singer living in Bristol, Batch Geuye, who recorded some beautiful lines over my music, creating an atmosphere and underlining the triumph of the whole conservation project.
