Break Down - short edit
From Nick CurreyAbout the film:
This is a 2 min taster version of a 17 min film I edited with artist Michael Landy, documenting his famous 2001 performance/installation Break Down. Landy gathered and catalogued all 7,227 of his possessions then destroyed them in an old branch of C and A on Oxford Street, London. The process of destruction was done on a factory-style assembly line, with workers reducing each item to its basic materials and then shredding them. The full version was made to be seen in a gallery context so is slower paced and more meditative than this taster. On the artists instructions the audio levels are set to vary wildly to make an impact in a gallery space.
