4k footage of stormy seas?

10 years, 9 months ago - Humayun Mirza

Hello,

I've found some nice stock footage online (mammothHD are good) but it's not perfect for the short I'm making. I really would like something with a little boat out at sea, big waves and shot at 96fps.

If you have anything that sounds close, even at 2k, please get in touch. I have a budget for this!

Cheers

It's difficult to present storms at sea on film that actually provide the viewer with a proportionately accurate experience. For some reason gale force 8 always looks like a force 6 and wave heights look very much less then they actually were. In the movies directors have to use all sorts of motion devices to try and emphasis just how violent storms are; they always look contrived and unrealistic. It's a phenomenon, a caprice of natural physics that's challenged me on a couple of occasions. Having been on small yachts in gales including one gusting to storm force 9, I've not yet seen any film, factual or dramatized, that has been able to convey the true scale of the experience.
