Actors for short re-enactment: how much is it fair to offer?

8 years, 6 months ago - Andre Brito

Hi Shooters,

I’m working on the budget for a research documentary that is likely to require re-enactment, and since my experience is with social actors I am a bit clueless as to how to quantify this.

Budget is, of course, limited, but having done my fair share of free work I would like to offer reasonable pay to actors who would be playing the real people that we will interview. They would only need to re-enact small portions of the interviews – a minute, max – so probably we are looking at half a day or a days’ work (please correct me if you think otherwise). Production will take place mostly in Leicester or Loughborough (East Midlands). Any suggestions as to how much a decent offer would look like?

Thank you :-)

André

As long as it's above minimum wage-ish you can offer what you like. And actors can take or leave it.

I'd suggest £50 for a morning is perfectly fair, and you'll find people glad to take it. It's not going to get you a "star", but there's no shortage of talent.
