INDEXAdvice on seeking producers and funding for a feature film?
5 years, 8 months ago - Tireni Dada
Hello All,
I've written a few feature films, and I'm in search of producers, funding and a director to help get this to the shooting stage. My scripts are mostly thrillers, but I also have plans to write scripts for other genres as well.
I'm very new to all of this, so I am seeking advice on how to get this across to producers or a production company.
I am currently looking into the Script Pitch that this website offers, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any advice to help point me in the right direction please?
Thanks

Another person asked a film funding question recently and perhaps the answers given there might be relevant for you (I haven't yet read them myself) - https://shootingpeople.org/ask/view/51525f656b9d7e167f1b7d5e
I too shall be seeking a producer / funding, for a feature version of a short that I made fairly recently. Buoyed by the lead actor receiving a Best Performance award, I sat down to knock out a feature version script, and I was pleased with the result – it's way, way better than the short. You can see the short here: https://youtu.be/UNOoMrlLV0w
Have you tried getting a literary agent? I used to be represented by a literary agent almost two decades now, but when he retired I had no luck finding another agent and I don't even bother sending material out now. Although to be honest my approach never really followed the standard submission rules – I couldn't be bothered writing bios and making presentations etc. Bollocks to that – here's a script, read it if you can be arsed, was more my style.

Hi Alwyne Kennedy, thank you for your response.
What's a literary agent? I was advised by someone not to try getting agent for now, and focus on trying to get a producer/funding.
What advantages does a literary agent bring? And how would I go about getting one?

Thanks for providing the link Molly, I will be sure to check this out.
Are the open and ongoing funding opportunities mainly for short film funding?

I use this funneling system to finance all films that I work on. I have a FREE tutorial video that you can watch to see how I do it: https://www.ohdff.com/home31657948
