Hi Tiago,

I'm a lighting cameraman who also does a lot of hands-on training with individuals. I've taught for Talkback Thames, BBC and to plenty of independent shooters and producers.

Drop me a line at jamiekennerley@hotmail.com with your training needs or queries and I can let you know how I think I could help you.

Cheers,

Jamie Kennerley

I think a combination of the two are helpful Marlom, in my experience. Short courses are the tops I think. Depending on where you do them, of course...

Do you need a course? IMO courses really pay off when you want to get more advanced and need to understand the less documented stuff. If you just want a practical knowledge of the basics, get a couple of books and experiment.

Tuago,

the Met Film School are especially good and great alternative would be the University of Greenwich (where I graduated from as a MSc )they are very comprehensive and a great range expert industry lecturers or I hear the the MA at Goldsmiths also producing high quality results.

Hope that is some help in regards to your question,

very best regards.

I did a 15 day Doc Lab at the Documentary Film Makers Group, last year. I'd never used a film camera before, let alone make a documentary, but at the end of the course, I'd done both. Hugely rewarding experience!

Talkinglens Academy in association with the prestigious White Cloth Gallery, Leeds are providing, for the first time in Yorkshire, a range of specialist intensive short media courses. These courses have been devised to suit the independent filmmaker individually. However, quite uniquely they can also be combined as a package in that they cover every crucial aspect of the film-making process for the independent filmmaker.

We have some courses that would suit you including

- Directing
- DSLR Filmmaking
