INDEXAnyone interested in sharing legal costs for an option agreement?
4 years, 2 months ago - Christine Cowin
Hi, I am commissioning a film lawyer to draw up some legal documents which can be adapted and reused - starting with an option agreement. Would anyone be interested in sharing costs - the more people the cheaper it gets obviously. Max cost would be £1000 in total, if you're interested let me know.

I have some templates you can have for free. You should save that £1,000 and put it on the screen. If I were your producer, that's what I would be recommending.

Hi Lee, that's very kind - thank you - if you can email to me at christinecowin@yahoo.co.uk that would be amazing.
I've just had some bad experiences recently of operating on trust without an agreement and wasted 8 months of work!

Hi Lee, I am in a similar situation and about to work on an episodical series. Would you mind sharing your template with me also, as I have never optioned my work before and it would be reassuring to have a look and read through these templates. Hope you don't mind me asking, warmest regards Kathryn

I'm putting together a pack of various forms and documents that may be useful in addition to the option template. If you message me your email address I'll forward a zip of them to you.

FYI - I run a free mentoring WhatsApp Group that supports filmmakers with access to ongoing form and document templates like the above.
It's not designed in any way to pull people away from SP as I also support SP members across both the Ask and Discuss forums.
It's simply easier to distribute attachments to multiple people and provide specific support there without clogging up the SP forums.
If anyone is interested in being considered for inclusion, let me know.
