Anyone know where to hire a prosthetic arm and a defibrillator?

I am shooting a scene in a hospital where I need a defibrillator for when a doctor shocks a patient.

I am also shooting a ghost in the hospital corridor who is swinging a broken arm around his head.

Thanks for the pointers. I will certainly try them.

If you only need a hand now, couple of options - if you can connect and return I have a very finely detailed silicone one cast from life left over from being chopped off an arm in a recent film. Or make your own (always a useful skill). Or try joke shops/Halloween tat suppliers - sometimes they have quite good mouldings for the money.

You could also ask private medic and ambulance service companies about a defib, maybe even St Johns.

How realistic does the arm need to be? Try lifecast, they may rent you a very realistic one. How realistic does the defib need to be? Would you recognise a real one from a distance on the small screen? If not, nor will your audience, so maybe you can improvise. Otherwise, a medical props company can probably do you both the arm and the defib, but for a price.

Curious Science are very good - they have a massive warehouse of kit in Park Royal. http://curiousscience.com/

That's the same place as filmmedical, A D (same guy owns both companies) :)

The arm would be incredibly easy to make on your own, though I don't know where to find the supplies in the U.K. Here's a 2 part video that should help if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8Fmnf5SNp4

Hi Paddy,

the arm doesn't have to be that realistic - it's more for a ghost to swing around his head. That has given me a few ideas - maybe stuff a shirt arm and just have a hand instead. Thank you!
