Best steps to becoming a script supervisor?

8 years, 4 months ago - Jordan Malonga

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone had any insight into becoming a script supervisor? What is the best route to take in doing so? Preferably around London?

The overall aim is to become a scriptwriting/director. I currently do short films now but I'd love to work around the industry at the same time.

Any advice will be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Jordan

The script super is the editors connection to the shoot, so maybe start by getting in with a features editor and seeing how they use a marked up script and notes so you understand the importance.

The NFTS are launching a script supervisor course in september. Be a good place to learn the craft https://www.nfts.co.uk/our-courses/certificate/script-supervision-continuity-film-television

I've heard good things about the NFTS course. I'll be leading a short, intensive training in June at LFS - http://lfs.org.uk/workshops/lfs-workshops/2608/script-supervision-and-continuity-film-television. And feel free to message me with any questions you have about getting started!
