BFI shortlisted writer seeking producer + director

1 year, 1 month ago - Phoebe Cleghorn

Any Barry Jenkins, Bong Joon-ho or Tom Ford inspired producers or directors out there?

I just posted over on Script Pitch that I'm seeking a producer and director, both with some experience of filmmaking to help realise the full potential of my script, IMPERFECT MORTAL BEINGS. Logline below:

'When an ambitious sommelier is faced with a career-defining opportunity, she’s forced into an impossible decision: her life or her husband’s.'

Please head to https://shootingpeople.org/scriptpitch/ to find out more about the opportunity and if interested in collaborating, drop me an email at phoebecleghorn@gmail.com with a summary of (and links to, where possible) your previous work.

Thanks and all the best,
Phoebe Cleghorn

Hi Phoebe,

We spoke earlier this year (on X) following your BBC Maestro feature.

re your script, one of my friends is a very highly-regarded London sommelier, and she's lovely, so if you have any additional research Qs, I'm happy to introduce you.

Here's her insta: https://www.instagram.com/ksenia.karpenko.wine/

Hey CK, I remember! Hope all is well with you. Thanks again for the heads up about the radio feature haha.

Also hugely appreciate the offer to connect with Ksenia. I'll most definitely take you up on that once the ball on this project gets rolling!

Good luck with your project — shout when/if you need an intro!

Hey Phoebe, project sounds intriguing, I'm always open to collaborate, I'm more of a director than a producer but still happy to throw my name in the mix, here's a link to my website - https://www.david-yorke.com/

Hi David,

Your name sounded familiar, so I headed to your profile. I immediately recognised the promotional artwork for 'EJECT', but I still can't remember where I saw that short film. It's either Kino Open Mic or an SP event. I feel like it was an SP event 2-3 years ago. Either way, I'm now an hour into a David Yorke marathon and fully hooked. Your films are immense, and a rare combination of suspenseful storytelling, elite acting, sublime aesthetic and most critically, emotional heft. I was genuinely gripped by 'Fellow Travellers'. Such a brilliantly told story — all the more impressive given the absence of dialogue. 'Safekeeping' will be troubling me for the rest of the night, not gonna lie. Good lord! Those two young actors are a sensation, particularly Jodie. Remarkable performances. 'Clouds', once again, is the ultimate showcase of your ability to draw breathtaking performances from your cast — that little guy motivates me be to become a better actor, frankly! And finally, 'Foresight' is beyond satisfying — so concise, sweet and fun. Gloriously edited, too.

Anyway, quick tea break, then I'm jumping into 'Let Go', 'We' and the rest of your filmography.

Bravo, my man!

PS. Phoebe... David's offer to collab with you might just be the most irresistible offer you'll receive this year... accept before I write something purely to utilise his brilliance. ha.
