cancellation for productions that don't happen?

10 years, 10 months ago - John David Clay

Just wondering about cancellation agreement in the sense that you get paid as apposed to unpaid for film work that don't reach anywhere say £75 departmental average as a clause.

I say this as just applying for editor job 85% unpaid all I want to see is the material first, but get paid 5% for processing it all.

Any thoughts?

You and the client can agree any terms you like.

I'm not sure what you're asking, John. If you're talking about getting a job on a film, then the film falls through, that's pretty normal. Even on big films. Often it's because a star backs out, and the film loses its funding. I'd say this is more common than a film that actually gets off the ground. Here in America, that's just normal, and nobody expects to be paid a cancellation fee. I wish we were though! It really sucks to turn down work because you think you already have a job.
