Amanda, will you apply to the Short Film Corner (market) as well as the festival?
You could also submit to La Semaine de la Critique
https://www.semainedelacritique.com/en/short-films-submission-requirements-2020
and
the Quinzaine http://pro.quinzaine-realisateurs.com
which run concurrently.

I go there every year as a photographer as I work in the UK Pavillion so will be there again this year.
I'm also considering submitting for the Short Film Corner (rather than competition).
Submitting the Short Film Corner I believe you are given acreditation to go and attend events there and see some films too.

I go every year. Last year met some directors who have been selected twice. I asked how they managed that? They openly said their mum knew people at the festival :( Often its very much who you know. Towards the end of the festival they screen all the selected short films in one go and some are very questionable in my opinion. Good luck Amanda - who dares wins :)

Just to tell you that not only the mayor of Cannes closed down the 'Palace' but it is used as a dormitory for confined homeless. He is having the streets disinfected at the moment. What's more he might follow the Mayor of Nice's rule and make the mask compulsory for everybody.
The Mayor of Nice went to the hospital for the virus like Boris but he was allowed to take the medicine and is cured now and out. Why don't they give that medicine, the chloroquine to Boris? Is it that humiliating to save Boris with a French medicine?
