Who's heading to Cannes this year?
It can be daunting heading to big festivals solo or in a small group. So why not buddy up with other Shooters?!
We know that, by chance, a group of Shooters met at the Berlin film festival earlier this year and networked/watched films/went to film parties together. So we thought, as a short cut, we'd set up a Cannes 'chat' for you to connect with each other ahead of the festival.
Shout out here if you need someone to travel with, or to split accommodation with - maybe you don't speak French and are looking for a filmmaker who does..........

Haven't committed to going yet but have reserved accommodation etc.
Any thoughts on how valuable it is would be appreciated.

In many ways it's a hard festival (super expensive food/drinks etc). And it can also feel weirdly isolating. It doesn't have the charm or ease of festivals that just love films and want audiences to see them.
But! It is good for meeting people for next projects, networking, checking out the market area if you are wanting to sell a film. Also the UK Pavillion will put on events/panels and info about funds in the UK and Europe for films. You'll also meet a lot of people there. Check out what the British Council are up too - they often host really good events. And the best local pub is 'Le Petit Majestic' - off the main drag. It used to be open 24hours (I think it now shuts much earlier) but hope it's still in action. You can get cheaper beers and a lot of people just go there throughout the day, after screenings/events to meet other people.
Be great to also know if any SP'ers have submitted any shorts/features? Or any shorts to the Cannes Short Film Corner?

I haven't thought about it much as I have no idea how to even do it! Would love to buddy up, split costs and try and get some good networking done though.

Just got my accreditation approved. I have no accommodation books though so not sure if I’m going or not yet but hope to go for at least a couple days!

How are you..Im not 100% sure I can be at the film festival in Cannes, because I have 2 seminaires in Paris, ( mai 12-13th and Mai 26th, so if I can manage between this 2 dates to go I will..if not after festival I suppose to be in London ( PS: BTW I speak etc fluently french as well

Headed to Cannes from the 20/21st till end of festival (I have friends in Nice and Antibes so will crash on their couch and commute)
Definitely would love to meet with some SP folks there - is there a whatsapp group/notion or smthg where we can check in who's coming/doing what?
I am a screenwriter + unit still photographer (@oscargoeswildphotography), and would love to meet up/chat and share experiences there!

Hi everyone,
I'm asking for a lovely producer friend who works in UK film sales... Do you have a spare room/sofa/bed (or floor!) during the festival dates of 14/15/16? They're able to pay for the space.
They're looking for accommodation urgently because the space they had booked has fallen through.
If you can help, please let me know!
