Ideas are easy. Having a script at least shows you invested some time. And threw away 99 great ideas that turned out not to be :-)

I'm with Marlom here (as usual). I don't know the answer to your question, Robert, but how many scripts have you written? If you can, indeed, pitch without a script (not a great idea), are you experienced enough to write something based on a pitch? Not an easy thing to pull off.

Hi Robert,

It depends what you want from your pitch. If you want feedback, then absolutely. What you hear will almost certainly help you develop your ideas and focus the eventual script more effectively.

However, if you want interest/a sale from a producer, then I really wouldn't. No producer will buy from you without seeing a full script, because it's not just the idea, it's the way you do it. And they'll want to see the script now, not in 3 months time. I've seen it happen - by the time the script gets delivered, the producer has changed jobs, found another project or just feels that your idea has passed it's sell-by-date. And you've blown a possible good contact for the future.

Keep your powder dry.

Charles
