INDEXEpping Forest Shooting
6 years, 10 months ago - Filipe Costa
Hey guys.
Recently I was looking into shooting a short film on epping Forest.
I've looked everywhere and this is the perfect forest for us to shoot our project.
Problem is, the rates are really really high. According to their website it's 788 pounds a day for a crew of 5-20.
That's just too much money for a low budget production like ours with so many things to pay.
We wanted to shoot in 3 days, so that would make it 2364 just to cover the area.
Anyone has any advice? I tried to contact them but nothing back yet. This was a month ago.
I havn't made the application to shoot there yet.
If anyone can help, I would even add you to the credits of my short film. I'm really desperate to get this forest as it will improve the quality of the film.
Thank you everyone

Hi Filipe, I may be able to point you in the right direction as I've had some contact with the marketing people there down the years. Do you want to email me at writer@nickboocock.com ?

Stanley Kubrick was famous for shooting 'Full Metal Jacket' in Walthamstow Gas works, and many many times locations have changed due to budgetary reasons, or because of travel issues! Do the same. One of the first rules is - Use what you can get, and get creative. I agree that there's precious few places that don't charge as we live in a country that only seems to support big budget, foreign financed films rather than our own film makers - There should be a sliding scale i think, but, in the meantime, get creative, you're a film maker!
