Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good company to insure my personal film/audio equipment?
fairly basic kit: DSLR, shotgun mic, some lenses, audio recorder...
It's my equipment I use across various projects, both personal and professional.
Any help welcome!!
Cheers,
Andy

I have business insurance through Hiscox, £9 or so a month, covers £10k of kit (own or hired) and £5M public liability. May be worth trying?

I use photoguard http://www.photoguard.co.uk - you can specify what cover you want in detail (i.e. cover in car, percentage of kit likely to be away from base, personal liability cover etc) which is useful. Also covers laptops/computers. I think I'm paying a bit more than £9/month though so the Hiscox deal looks good.

Hiya, I've now had three people ask me for details about this Hiscox policy - the premium will vary with your circumstance, so I suggest you call them and discuss it!

I did, and was very pleasantly surprised to deal with a native English speaker who asked some questions and came back with a quote much below what I expected - but that was based on my circumstances, and a few years back. Maybe they were looking to grow a sector, who knows? Anyway, by all means, call them. Maybe you'll get the deal I did, maybe you'll get worse, or better, but at least you'll know for sure. And Hiscox are considered one of the best insurers, so make of it as you will ;-)

I currently get public liability insurance as a side benefit of my £36 annual membership of Artists' Network: https://www.a-n.co.uk/register-artist
When that expires I might consider that Hiscox deal since I'm getting some new equipment.
