INDEXFestival laurels - designing your own vs using the festival's

hi guys. We have a web series that's being accepted and nominated at a few festivals and we have been sent laurels to use on our promotional material. The thing is, one of the festivals has a "nominated" laurel for each category we were nominated in, but two of the festivals gave us laurels that say "official selection" although we were nominated in a couple of categories, another festival gave us a laurel that just doesn't look very good, and they ALL have quite different designs.
Whenever I see posters with lots of laurels on, they all have the same consistent design, so I assume they've been designed by the graphic designer etc. However, two of the festivals I mentioned above asked us not to use any other laurel or design our own.
What's actually the done thing here?
Any help appreciated!
thanks

If they've asked you to use their design, you have to use their design. Ask them for "Nominated Laurels."

Hi Dan. Thanks. That's what I assumed but then don't most festivals ask you to use their own design? Also I did actually ask for nominated laurels and they just said they don't do them.

I think most of the film packaging you see is well after a festival run. Then you can do anything you want, right? So it depends where you are in the process. If you are now in distribution mode after a successful festival run, I think it ok to use your laurels (unless you signed something saying otherwise). On the other hand, if you're at a specific festival where you've been nominated, but not yet awarded, and are trying to promote at that festival, I'd use their laurels. Does that make sense?
