INDEXFinal cut pro x destroyed my project. Can I get it back?
11 years, 7 months ago - Vasco de Sousa
Okay, I'm sure I'll figure out a way to fix this soon. But, I updated the latest final cut pro X thing, 10.1, and it went back to the old system of projects. This meant I have none of my events or projects, and months of editing work is nowhere.
I'm not sure if the plugins will work, which might mean I have to start colour correction again. Hopefully, we won't have to do another cut. In any case, it'll probably take another couple of days to figure this new version out or find the details in the manual. (And, as there's no boxed version, it's not that simple to just go back to the old one.)
Some paper edit will help. But like, if you're in the middle of something, I would not update FCPx right now.
I tried doing what it said in the manual, and creating an event, but it's just not working right now. The event didn't read anything.
I'm looking at the manual, and it's not promising.
If anyone hasn't updated their fcpx yet, please wait. Especially if you're in mid Wales.

Hi Vasco, sorry to hear of your problem. Whether you are in mid-Wales or not, the old adage still applies - back-up before you make changes. Bit late for that now, I know, but helps for the future. Come to that - just backup, regularly! . Have you looked in your computer's dustbin - deleted files. You may find some remnants in there. (Should be an icon on your desk-top, or search your computer for 'recycle bin'.)
Good luck with finding them,
yours

Hmmmm thanks for the heads up on this new version .. Apple are just such arrogant w@%#ers now. So it's like the old fcp 7 now? I was just starting to like the x version and loved the grading thing. You could check the files in the actual hard drive rather than in the programme going to events or projects. What about phoning apple care? Last time I had trouble with x I booked one2one training and they helped a lot but not easy in mid wakes. Gd luck

I know this is speaking after the horse may have bolted: but take a backup now before you start trying to see if your stuff is still around on the hard disk. Then see if you can find the files on the hard disk outside of the application. This will mean you may still be able to get back to your current point if you muck up trying to recover what has gone wrong.
