INDEXFundraising for a short film?
6 years, 9 months ago - Kieran Freemantle
I was hoping for advice regarding fundraising for a short film. It will be my second short film and the script has been well received. I am in the early stages of production and looking for a producer. I want to film in South-West England.
I will properly go to crowdfunding sites and I am seeking funding from other sources, either public or private.

Pretty much second job, friends and family to be honest - there's not really any sources of free money, public funds tend to be small and heavily contended with significant conditions attached, private sources is basically convincing someone to give you money they would otherwise spend on something else. It's a tough ask.

There are some grants available, depending on what your film is about and where it is filmed. (South West England had some a few months ago, they may return.) They are pretty competitive, for the most part, but worth a try.
Shooting People has a list. If you're more specific, there are others not listed here:

Hey Keiran, I co-run a company called JORDANA CREATIVES. We are crowdfunding consultants, recently raised over £10,000 on Kickstarter for our latest short film. We provide step by step guidance on how to market your campaign in the pre launch stage and we also give you access to pitch your project at one of our seminars and we give you access to our mailing list to market your campaign to our audience.

For anyone interested in Kickstarter, I know SP has some good contacts there, who can help with your campaign. It's worth asking the SP team before launching a KS campaign just in vase.
