INDEXHeadshot feedback

I've recently had new acting headshots taken, I've been advised to ask around for afew opinions before picking the two I want, I'd love to hear any opinions from anyone with a good eye for headshots or anyone who casts, my aim was for one light hearted headshot and another more dramatic one.

Don't use any with the sparkly background. The highlights compete with the viewer's attention.

Hi Anthony
I've just had a quick look and here's my feedback: Sparkly background a big No, No and I'm very surprised the photographer used it. Completely distracts from your face. The darker background pics are better but in my view it's too dark a background and doesn't do your face the credit it deserves - you've got lovely blue eyes and these should be jumping out more at the viewer. white clothes - jacket/shirt also don't make your face stand out. You have a strong face and there should be more variety of expressions. Sorry if all this sounds negative BUT headshots are so important. I've just had new ones done and the photographer took me outside to do them and he managed to get a good range of natural expressions from me. Simon Mayhew Photography. Best of luck.

HI Anthony
I just had a quick flick through. I thought some of the sparkly background ones were good. The darker sparkly ones were better. http://neilsonreeves.photoshelter.com/proofing/G0000r9GfWODPf8A (this one had a bit of character and attitude in it.) Some of the photos you look a little older than in others, so just make sure that the ones you pick represent what you look like and the age you will be cast as. I also liked some of the darker ones but was difficult to get a link as after taking one link I got pushed out to another area.
My main advice would be, it should look like you. Anything with character and personality is also good, by this I mean a kind of light in the eyes, not some kind of false character. If you look a bit East End gangster, but would find it really difficult to pull that kind of character off, don't choose one that makes you look a bit like a wide boy.
I would say you've certainly got some to choose from. From a casting point of view, as long as it looks like you, and has a bit of character, it works. Hope they bring you nothing but success.
