Help with creative ideas for the 1-minute documentary

8 years, 10 months ago - Elizaveta Sinkevich

Hello I am a first year student who just started studying Film & TV...and the first task is to film a 1-minute documentary 'portrait of a stranger', revealing the darkest secret of one person in the most creative manner. I find it hard, especially in terms of making a complete stranger trust you and tell their secret + the unique way to film. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Maybe set up a mock Confessional Box, like the Catholic church ones, and invite people to step into its shadowy interior to unburden. Their identity could be kept secret.

Not a very creative idea, I know, but it's all I have to offer this morning.

You don't say whether you have to use the stranger in the film. If not, it would be much easier to interview a stranger, then use an actor to be him or her in your film.

I can't help but think of Aardman animation's short film Creature Comforts. He would interview real people talking about their lives, then animate animals in the zoo using the actual interviews.
