I have some ideas for a film I would like to produce. First though I am looking for a writer that is looking to do something new, different and edgy. If could send it to my e-mail, hope to hear from you soon.

Always a 'potential' tell-tale sign when the profile is blank...

First you should put up your own experience on your profile, maybe you have not had time yet if you are a new member?
Next ask people first for a one paragraph summary of their script idea. Then contact them and arrange to talk further if you like the idea. Also state whether you are prepared to pay for the said script and what MONEY you have for the budget, if any. This will get much more interest and replies .
The thing is for those on here who have had experience - no-one wants to give a script for nothing with the not so exciting phrase give it for the love of film or because it will be good for your showreel, or you will get a credit. So what? There are hundreds of thousands of wannabees trying to do something for nothing and offering that.. Also as said above people are afraid you will nick their ideas.
Everyone has to start somewhere but if you have never produced any film or been to film school your options are limited. A film cant be produced successfully just like that. I suggest writing it yourself, and producing something to show people if you are beginning. Borrow a friend with a camera and some other friends to act and go make a film!

Hi Benjamin,
See this thread here: https://shootingpeople.org/ask/view/40c3b50e80751b6932a033ed
Writers, DON'T BE SENDING YOUR STUFF OUT WILLY NILLY, especially to someone with NOTHING on their profile. That's exactly how scripts and ideas get nicked. I'm seen it happen. Engage in discussion first and talk/meet the person first.
Sorry Benjamin...

Hi Benjamin ... There's nothing on your profile page ... What's your background as a producer? Any shorts or features produced? Or do you come from a finance background and want to get into film making ... Look forward to hearing more about you ... Best Stuart

Surely this must be a joke, just to get a load of us getting aeriated over the blindingly obvious?

in my naivety I have sent Ben a script over, you sceptical but wise shooters.... And heard nothing...if my script turns up on screen insome shape or form in the future then in some way, I would have achieved what I wanted...thats the positive spin on it....

The correct phrasing for your title is: "...looking to produce a film."
Perhaps you might get a better response? But then I can see the need for writers.
End of grad' year? Our in-box here is stuffed full of edgy hopefuls.
