How do I get my screenplays read and how do I get myself in the position where I'm pitching to the right people?

I've been writing for a few years now, doing my best to learn the craft and improve with everything I write. I have a small portfolio of completed scripts and a micro-budget feature film to my name but I want to get my screenplays out there in the world. One thing I have noticed from searching various sites and reading dozens of books is that there seems to be an abundance of advice on the do's and don'ts of pitching, but very little in the way of how to actually get yourself in a room delivering your pitch to the necessary folk. I know there are pitch events here and there (which are pricey), but is there some great secret or is the answer to my question painfully obvious and I just haven't noticed it staring me in the face? Any help, hints, tips, personal anecdotes, guidance or guardian angels would be much appreciated. Thanks

To get a script to an agent that doesn't accept unsolicited scripts, is to get to know their assistant. Find out who it is, and send your stuff directly to them. The assistant wants to become a full fledged agent, and is always on the lookout for a great script that will move them up the ladder. They are more open to reading unsolicited stuff. Just make sure what you send them is commercially viable.
