How do I go about joining a union for work?

Hi SP community!

I’m an early career director and have decent experience working as a PA for non-union jobs in Canada. However I am now new to the UK (but I have the right so work here), and would like to become a camera trainee. How would I go about joining a union here? What course of action would anyone recommend / what unions are available?

The union for camera operators is BECTU. https://bectu.org.uk/join/
They deal with most below the line talent in British film and TV.
