I am looking for screenplays from award winning short films, does anyone know where I might find them?

Hiya,

I am about to commence turning a recent treatment into a short screenplay to be produced early next year. I haven't written a screenplay in a while and am looking for some inspiration.

By award-winning I ideally mean some of the big ticket festivals, Oscars, Baftas, Sundance, Cannes, etc

Thanks in advance!

Hi Hardy,

I remember Indiewire often posting when screenplays become available to read for free (usually around awards season) - if you have a search on their website some short screenplays may come up as well?

Other than that, https://www.scriptrevolution.com/shootin-the-shorts review short scripts, not sure if any of them are award-winning, though.

Good luck with your screenplay!

Hi Hardy,
My screenwriting teacher showed us some in Lampeter a few years back. They were cool to look at, some were badly formatted, but the story was there.
You know what she did? She wrote to the filmmakers directly, and got a response. That's what I understood anyway. Many people will ignore you, but if you're nice about it, they might share (or at least tell you where it is on sale.)

If you want inspiration, just write. Tell a story as if you were trying to make a friend laugh, or win a court case, or apply for a job. Either that, or read some short stories, and ask the writer if you can adopt it. (Hey, that worked for Frank Darabont. He asked Steven King if he could make a student film of his short story, and King said yes.)
