I'm interested in getting into documentary making and I'm looking for experienced filmmakers based in London who are interested in an ongoing partnership.
The deal: I pay all costs involved with the project and i pay you a modest daily/weekly rate. Any future financial rewards we receive (if any) are split 50/50.
Me: I have an unhealthy interest in documentaries, i have seen a lot… I'm based in London, English and I’m in my 30s with a young family. My background is running my own business.
I provide: money, some creativity, time, enthusiasm and good at getting stuff done
You provide: some experience in most aspects of documentary filmmaking, previous viewable work, some basic knowledge of the commercial side of thing
Happy to chat on the phone, then maybe a coffee and so on.

Sounds interesting. How about we start off with a modest cost project I have but with quite a good impact and reach; it's a feature doc I've made significant inroads into and started filming. Here goes; Everybody loves the multicultural vibe London rightly sports. It wasn't always like that. The turning point in London becoming the city we know and love was 13 August 1977 - forty years ago. The National Front had been a growing force in British politics, threatening to replace the Liberal Party as the forth electoral force in the UK.
The previous year during the GLC elections they ammassed 120,000 votes and had registered gains in the Midlands, Blackburn and Leicester. They pledged to hold one of their provocative marches through New Cross, an area of south east London populated with large numbers of African-Carribeans. Police leave was cancelled and the Met deployed riot shields for the first time in mainline Britain. Pleas to ban the march were ignored by the Home Secretary, Merlyn Rees. Shops were boarded up the night before. Local schools were leafleted by opponents of the NF (mine included - I remember). Four thousand Met police, some on horseback, attempted to uphold the (800) National Front march. It didn't happen.
Lewisham 1977 is the story of those who prevented the National Front from marching, from local residents to black school kids, students and trade unionists.. The film is based on interviews, audio, stills and moving image archive, all of which I have located. I also have access to newspaper cuttings.
There is a considerable interest in the subject. Goldsmiths College, Love Music Hate Racism and the Albany Theatre are hosting a series of events to commemorate the event. There will be a photographic exhibition, talks, local tour of the area where the confrontation took place, great food and a general celebratory culture. The media interest is significant.
No other filmmaker has the sort of access that I have to the participants. The film is relatively inexpensive to make. I have many other ideas, but I'd like to see if this one falls within your domain.
Thank you

Hello, I make what I call artist profile documentaries that aim at an inspirational feelgood factor. My just completed project, 'Spanish Dancer, London Life' follows choreographer Maria Vega as she moves to London, forms a new Flamenco/Contemporary dance company, develops a stage show and at the same time works as a highly trained Cancer Carer in a top London hospital. Shot over several years ten nationalities were involved making it a statement on London's inspiring multi cultural diversity in the Arts. Short trailer to give an idea: https://vimeo.com/214139926. My previous film, 'The Silver Footprint' profiles arguably the greatest living fine-art photographic printer and has sold hundreds of CDs to Art colleges and Galleries all over the world, as well as pure photography enthusiasts and was described by the BBC as 'An important landmark in Photography'. I have just written the pitch for my next proposed film, another unusual arts subject with high TV and educational sales potential. Please Email if you would like to talk, see a showreel, etc: richarddunkley@btconnect.com

Hi Robert,
Your offer sounds potentially interesting. I just finished a feature doc that instantly won Best International Feature Documentary at it's premiere in Galway last week, and it will hit cinemas in late autumn and later Netfilx, after a festival run starting late summer. I'm already underway with another two features now. I don't seem to be attracted to London– or English stories, so most of my filming happens elsewhere in the world. I'm not going to go into detail here but send me a DM if you want to talk. I'm also not interested in documentaries that don't have strong commercial potential as I'm not doing this as a hobby.
Cheers,
ivo

Jackie, that's very kind of you to say, thank you! Galway is a great festival, so much more productive than Cannes or Berlin. We should have made friends! :-)

Hi , I have a couple of projects that might interest you. One is about chocolate, its about the difference in "posh chocolate" and the run of the mill type, its marketing, then health benefits or not, the farming and making of chocolate.I have unique access to an upmarket choc firm whose owner got an OBE for services to chocolate!
The second doc I want to make is about an English woman who meditated in a box(literally) in the Himalayas for 12 years and is now a leading woman in the buddhist movement providing nunneries across northern India and Nepal that have been very successful in providing education for girls who would have had a very different life without her.
Both are relatively inexpensive to make. I am an award winning film maker.

Robert seems to have a unique way of corresponding with people here on SP. He originality placed his 'advert' some months ago and repeated it a couple of times since. His SP profile provided nothing but his name; however I did send him a message through the contact provision that every profile has.. After his last post he did repeat a short responce but that exams politeness only emerged after a few of us commented about it all. I now note that his profile has been deleted. It's a minorly intreging thing. One can imagine a few scenarios from the sublime to the ridiculous. For me it's a reminder not to take annonimity seriously.
