Is there an equivalent to "Shooting People" in France?

8 years, 10 months ago - Stephen M. Hunt

My latest short film is "Jezebel" to be shot in France with French cast & crew - but where do I find them? I've looked on the web for an equivalent to "Shooting People" to no avail. Can anyone tell me of a website where French cast & crew can be sourced? many thanks.

Hi Stephen,

Perhaps I could put you in contact with my British actress friend who lives in France. She's been there for many years now and knows the industry well.

Also Casting Networks are in France now and you can post on there for free.

Just let me know. Cheers Angela

Check out Cineaste.org It is not so much like SP to my experience, but you can use it to find cast and crew.

And so btw, to the management here: why not actively expand SP into France and other countries on the European continent?

Sounds great Angela, I sent you an email and hope to hear from your friend.

Many thanks Aleve, I'm in the process of joining Cineaste.org but am not sure my French will be up to the task, but I'll try. Many thanks, again.

If you need any help in writing in French I am willing to do it, no charge! I have a friend in film making in Paris. She has already made a very funny film in London. I ask her first if it is OK to give you her email. Her name is Valentine. She can speak English.
By the way, I am French, nobody's perfect.

Do you have a French co-producer Stephen? If you don't and you have some budget and a bit of time still it would be well worth you finding one. I've been working with a French co-producer, but that's for films shot in the UK and being finished in France. A French co-producer could also have access to extras funds etc.

Hi. You may also want to contact La Maison du Film Court: http://www.maison-du-film-court.org. You can request access to their cast and crew database. The site is in French, however, so you may need assistance filling out the forms... If you do post on cineaste.org for example, my feeling is you could do so in English as you will, I imagine, be looking to work with French people who speak English, right?... Re Kelly's suggestion of finding a French co-producer, she's absolutely right; they may have access to extra funds. The process can be lengthy, but there's a lot of money available in France for shorts (film in general) via the CNC. Not everyone gets awarded those funds of course, but if you have the time, the wait may prove worthwhile. Good luck.
