I have a tasty 8-part TV comedy-drama script and I'm looking to team up with someone apt to pitch it to production companies, etc. Or to run a crowdfunding campaign so that we might shoot it ourselves.
I shot a taster video for it, which may hep in generating interest. It may be viewed here: https://youtu.be/b-kPfIWEz7U

Alwyne

That's an interesting idea Alwyne. Presumably you made this taster on a shoestring so it's a great effort. The comedic element is very darkly submerged and may not be so much comedy as it is fantasy bizarre. Liked the potential to extrapolate much from the concept though. Putting together a business model to raise a budget for a series might be a tough call for crowd funding. It needs a TV, Amazon, Netflix etc., type of deal. A producer with provinance or coproduction deals might be best.

John, blimey, someone watched it. And thanks for taking the time to offer advice. Yes, agree, a producer with provenance is needed. I never really saw the likelihood of crowdfunding success due to the sums involved to do the series justice, but it didn't hurt to propose it. Yes, it requires a TV, Amazon, Netflix etc., but as I no longer have a literary agent (he retired or died or something, I forget), approaching such entities would be futile I feel. I wouldn't get past their slush piles.
I'm intending to begin approaching literary agencies next week if the posts I have made this week on various pertinent websites don't succeed in some way.
I wrote the script yonks and yonks back, and thereafter it mostly lay dormant on my hard drive. I made the taster vid two years back but never got around to doing anything with it other than a couple of fruitless previous posts on SP. Recently, to test if the script was appealing to today's audience, I paid a brainy film/English Lit. recent graduate to read it, and she reported enjoying it, so I'm finally making a bit of a push with it.
The taster vid doesn't really do the script justice, by the way, but it may perhaps serve to pique interest.

Hi Alwyne, I watched the "taster" and find it interesting, seems like the dark elements meets a weird approach an this is intriguing. I cannot offer any substantial help but I think that espacially for series or potential series creating an audience is the first step. If I were you I will concentrate on perhaps jut only 3 minutes very focused concept pilot to show/pitch out there and to an agent, but I am not the right or experienced person about the producing side...
