INDEXLooking to Collaborate - editing
9 years, 10 months ago - Jessica Edwards
Hey guys,
I'm looking to collaborate with people to build on my editing skills. I'm currently working in corporate post-production. I'd love to edit story/narrative based films. I understand that a lot of people want editors with 'experience' in narrative based editing, but I'm trying to build on this and it's very difficult, especially since i've just started out in the post-production career.
If anyone has any tips or would like to collaborate that would be awesome!

Good for you, Andrew! You know, it's so hard for young filmmakers nowadays. In the digital world, one assistant is usually enough, but it doesn't help those coming up. In the film days we had at least 2 and usually 3 assistants or more. They could really learn the craft. Now it seems you're on your own.
I think ShootingPeople should start a Editor training service. Any Shooters could make their footage available for young editors to play with. Think of it: a half dozen different sets of eyes looking at your footage in 6 different ways. Not only would that be invaluable for the editors, but much more so for the directors.

Hi Jessica,
I have a feature that could use as little or as much help in the editing department as you're able to contribute - for more details see www.survivorfilms.co.uk - feel free to get in touch if you're interested :)
