Looking to start a filmmaking group with other passionate filmmakers

7 years, 6 months ago - Dominic Stewart

I am a film writer and director looking to start a collective with other talented, determined film professionals of varying skills/experience to start collaborating on a number of engaging, high quality films. I have already directed my first film (in post-production stage) and I am looking to create one of my next several scripts.

One of the main issues present with creating film is the pre-production phase where the right team has to be assembled. With a collaborative team, this aspect of the process will be minimised/eliminated; allowing for us to focus on the logistics and actual creation of the piece. Additionally we can all pool resources, connections, and experiences; allowing us to all learn from and support each other efficiently.

Regardless of your discipline, if you live and breathe film like I do and truly want to create greatness then please get in contact for further discussion.

Hey Dominic! I love meeting other passionate filmmakers and would love to discuss more about collaborations. I am actually a trained actress, but I have worked behind the cameras as a one-woman-production house for the last 8 years. I specialise in working with chairites and non-profits and I have been lucky enough to work all over the globe to tell stories of change, hope and amazing humans. You can see more of my filmmaking work on my website here: www.hollieharrington.com (I am in the process of making a seprate one for my acting, which I have recently returned to.)

If you think you'd like to work together, get in touch! All the best!

PS: looked at your profile and saw your fav actors and movies match mine (and you hated Suicide Squad too!) - awesome!

Hi guys - this sounds like a fantastic idea. I'm a director based in London (http://stephenlally.com/) and I'm in the process of developing a really high-concept short film, so I'm so keen to meet producers and writers in particular!

Hey Dominic,

I really like this idea of collaborating with creatives. My discipline is a professional actress, and moving into other other mediums being screenwriting.

I'm happy to help with production, and learn from others, even if it means being a runner :)

Hi Dominic,
I just wrote about that. What do you mean by "collaborative"? So many people in film use that to mean they won't raise money. (Like a director who refuses to pay a writer unless the film makes money.) But, others mean that you're involved in the creative process.

Just as some musicians might prefer one genre to another, some horror fans don't work as hard when they're doing a romantic comedy. It's important that everyone is trying to make the same product, or as Walter Murch said, not trying to turn a chimpanzee into a man or vice versa.

It's good to see you listing your favorite films and directors on your profile. Sadly, I couldn't find any comedies. Best of luck to you anyway.

Well where are you based? London? Birmingham? Manchester? What equipment do you have to work with or money to spend? Can you cover transport and food? What scripts have you written: horror, sci-fi, comedy, drama?
