I just wanted to let everyone know about Slate. They do a bit of everything from the business side of film. Do you need a prospectus? (the answer is yes, you do). They can analyze your script and tell you the best budget to make a profit (among other things). They are starting an investor wing to take advantage of the new SEC rules. It's a bit like crowdfunding, but you may actually make money as it's an investment, not a donation.
Anyway, I don't know much about them yet, but I like where they are headed. Check out their website: https://www.slated.com
And the youtube channel is stuffed to the gills with useful, cold water in the face, industry facts and figures. Why VOD is better than Netflix (but we knew that already), videos on what your script is really worth, film investing, Sundance deals, etc. Here's the youtube page:

Again, I haven't dug deep into these guys, but it seems they are on the right track. So keep in mind that I am not promoting them, but would like you guys to point out what you think of some potential downsides that I haven't discovered yet.

I have only gone as far as watching the shitload of videos they've put up on youtube, trying to find a flaw in their plan or hear some amazingly bad advice. But, I am happy to say, so far so good. Seems they've taken the Hollywood way of doing things, and tweaked it in a very positive way for those on the outside of the system.
When I finish my current project, I'm going dive head first into this and see if I can get a film out of it.
