INDEXPopularity contest over a film contest?

So, I like many have entered Sundace's Short film competition. It can be quite frustrating, especially in the early stages of the competition watching some of the films get nearly 1000 votes in a day. How do you get more votes when there's only so many family and friends you can ask?
For anyone who does fancy watching or voting to help a fellow shooter out, here's the link to the film. It's 5 minutes long, and I'd love to hear your feedback and opinions. The film's called my godmother's wellies and it's about a young business woman who travels to wales and inherits her godmother's farm.
Hope you enjoy!

The answer is that you post a job on Amazon's Mechanical Turk service paying people in Asia 5c a time to click on the voting link in the hope that people equate 'lots of clicks' with 'worth watching', and so watch and upvote (wanting to be a part of the next viral before it gets famous...). Sadly, it works because film people are generally not technical, and so don't understand how votes can be gamed.

Great response Paddy. It's also a metaphor for a great deal more of just how corrupt our societal systems are, from the banal (having little profound affect on everyone's well being, such as entertainment arts) to the bloody serious (the machinations of the powerful elites)
