Producing partner sought for a very tasty feature project

5 years, 4 months ago - Alwyne Kennedy

I'm looking for a suitably experienced producing partner to come on board now that a feature script of mine is ready to be presented to funding bodies, such as the BFI.

Already on board is a very experienced production adviser / production manager.

The script has been lauded by various industry professionals. "A very rich story", said one. "Moving," said another. "Powerful," said yet another.

A detailed treatment is available for promising applicants.

Hi Alwyne, this sounds great. We recommend posting the role into Production> Get people (https://shootingpeople.org/production/people) so it will be listed on our production page and posted into the bulletins. Thanks, Molly

That's generally sound advice Molly. But perhaps my assumption that you might have recognised Alwyn as one of our principal correspondents and qualified ' experts " here on SP is unfounded. I imagine that Alwyn understood exactly what he was doing by posting here

There's quite a community of regular correspondents here who over time have become quite aware of each other. There's a few people here that I"d feel confident and secure to work with should an appropriate project arise.

I'd love to work with you Alwyn some time even though this particular one isn't a practical proposition for me at this point in time. All the very best for it dear fellow.

That's right, John. I thought there was more chance of something interesting resulting from putting it in this section rather than posting it on the jobs board. Of course, I could do both, but I couldn't be bothered going through the minor palaver of posting it on the jobs board.

I'm talking to Anna Carrington about possibly teaming up. You might remember Anna as she used to post on SP, although I don't think she's been a member for some years now. She had her second child the other week and so is a bit reluctant to commit to something, however, she knows producers and says she will read the script and make suitable people aware the project. Anna herself is not a producer, so I'm still open to approaches from other people. Not that Anna approached me, I approached her – we kind of know each other from a while back and I thought I'd give her a try as we got on well. Also, she has a sideline in teaching violin and violin playing features in the script, so it felt kind of right to see if she was interested.

Thank you for referring to me as an expert. However, the only expertise I will claim and defend is my expertise in self-sabotage. I could write a book about that.

You're too modest Alwyne. I've seen your work. Expertise is a relative notion.
