Screening Suggestion

8 months, 1 week ago - Ryames Chan

Hi everyone!

Hope you're having a lovely new year! I recently finished making a mid-length drama titled Traffic Lights. It's about three foreign friends moving out of London and saying goodbye, with the actors performing in German, Dutch and Cantonese. I'm really proud to have completed this heavily nostalgic project with my friends and would love to host a premiere screening at a London cinema. However, as my co-producer and I are conducting our research, it seems that most cinemas cost quite a bit for venue hiring while others have been rather unresponsive. I'd love to hear any suggestions on where I could bring our work on a big screen - perhaps anyone here knows some independent cinemas/venues? I'd be incredibly grateful to hear any leads on this!

Many thanks,
Ryames

It would be helpful if you could put a figure on what you consider to be "cost quite a bit".

Some of the LSFF screenings are going to be at SET Vault this year - I know mates have got them low cost before! https://setspace.uk/centre/set-woolwich/
Brixton Community Cinema which hosts Atlas Cinema could well be a shout: https://brixtoncommunitycinema.com/

Hi Ryames:
How's your search? I know Garden Cinema accept independent film hires and the staff there are super friendly. I hope it helps.
I'm a Taiwanese filmmaker based in London, would love to see your film, sounds lovely!

Try the Finsbury Park Picture House: https://www.picturehouses.com/cinema/finsbury-park?utm_campaign=map&utm_content=finsbury-park&utm_medium=Organic&utm_source=googlemaps

They did a very small short film for a friend of mine, who combined with two others of a similar type. Must have been very cost efective!
