ASK & DISCUSS
INDEXSEEKING TALENTED CREATIVES
7 months, 1 week ago - Linda M James
I would like to meet fellow creatives on 27th in Covent Garden to discuss a short film I’ve written and am directing in the autumn. It’s based on a true story and it’s called ‘Touching Colours’.
A young female artist’s worst nightmare is realised as she progressively goes blind over three agonising days. In the horrific period that follows, she must learn to cope with her harsh new reality and come to terms with her disability. Then, something miraculous happens which profoundly changes her and the way she sees the world.
While researching for the script, I discovered that every day 250 people start to lose their sight in the UK. [This is equivalent to one person every six minutes.] Imagine that replicated all over the world. Imagine not being able to see the sun, the sky, flowers, trees or the faces of people we love?
However, for some people help is at hand through an incredible team of scientists who have designed a machine that allows blind people to ‘see’. I am in contact with this team in New York. I think this topic is so important, I want to explore how someone like my artist Lucy could be helped in the future by using this machine and developing the short into a feature next year.
I am now looking for two great young actors for the lead roles,[a male and female in their 20s, and a crew. I have a great film editor attached and a film composer.
Here’s some info about me. After completing an MA in creative writing with distinction at the University of Sussex, I went on numerous script-writing courses in the UK and abroad. Since that time, I’ve had seven novels published and have written two more. I’ve also had a thirty-minute drama broadcast by BBC; five feature film scripts optioned, been commissioned to write three historical features and won six screenwriting awards last year in a number of International Film Festivals.
If you are interested in this project, please email me on lindamjames77@gmail.com to tell me about yourself and I will send you the pitch deck.
I look forward to meeting some of you later this month in Covent Garden. Cheers.
