INDEXWhere can I sell filmmaking equipment?
8 years, 11 months ago - Alison Carpenter
Hi there, I'm based in South London and have a Merlin 2 steadicam that I no longer use. Any advice on the best place to sell this? I've tried eBay but I'm not getting much footfall so I wonder whether there is a more niche website or shop that buys/sells second hand filmmaking equipment? Thanks.

I would imagine the Merlin is not very desired now that 3-axis gimbals have very much hit the market. That would explain your lack of interest on ebay. But if you are the hopeful kind, you could try https://www.kitplus.com and https://www.bblist.co.uk. Haven't looked at it in a long time, but I think kitplus costs up-front money to post. At least it did when it was called tv-bay.

Yes - I was about to say bblist.com as the professional choice. There is, of course, SP...

Hi Alison, how much are you asking for the Merlin 2? Please email me on zaraplessard@gmail.com Thanks, Zara

Er by 3-axis gimbals I of course meant the electronically stabilised ones, such as the Ronin and Ronin M.

I haven't tried mpb,com myself, but it looks like a good site for buying and selling used camera equipment

Sorry - I don't seem to be receiving messages from SP. I've just logged in and seen all of these! I'm selling for £250 but am open to offers. Thanks for all the suggestions of places to sell. I'll give them a try unless anyone on here wants it. Alison

That might be your problem. I can get a new Merlin right now for $270. That's dollars. New. B and H is having a sale, with a mail in rebate of another $100. So that brings it down to $170. Even after you add the cost of shipping to the U.K., that still less than you're asking. Maybe hold onto it until these sales are over and try again.
