INDEXZero response from Zero Film Festival

I submitted my film to Zero Film Festival (as it was a self made film) http://www.dayfilm.com/ad
and after payment you had to email laura to submit film.
Email came back "Emails Rarely Rarely Checked" in the subject line.
They gave another email if it was urgent. The same automated email came back. This one said to put "Atten: Zero" in the subject line. This I did to both email addresses. On each occassion "Email Rarely Checked" came back.
I have reported them to Withoutabox and wish to spread this information.

My best advice for festival's for indie filmmakers who do not have a distributor is to not submit to any festivals which are currently advertising for submissions. This is because 9/10 the festival's have already pre-selected the films and they are simply advertising for you to submit your film to make more money.
What I can advise though is to submit to free festivals (As you have nothing to lose) Also, do not be afraid to go networking festivals and sending (Cold calling) your film to them (Especially if they have not advertised a festival date) as if interested they will offer you a screening. (My latest Memorial will be screened at two festivals and my first Until Death do us Part was invited)
Also, research the festival you submit to... Again if you have no major distributor then do not even waste your time with Cannes, Sundance, or whatever (Not at first anyway) as it will blow your pocket and 9/10 they select based on which distributor is placing the most money in their pocket.
Don't worry though, there are plenty of underground film festivals for you to get your film audience from... It just takes time, hard work and dedication.

Just to add... Never pay money unless the festival offers to show your film!!!

Good luck with "Without a Box" as well. They are worthless in my opinion.
Unfortunately, this kind of behavior from festivals is all too commonplace. I'd recommend getting Chris Gore's book "The ultimate film festival guide" (I think that's the title). It's full of hints for submitting and reviews of festivals.
