Working as an actor can be mega difficult, so we’re doing our best to make it easier through our actors’ grant! This year, a whopping 400 actors applied. Most applicants named Greta Gerwig and Taika Waititi as the actor/directors they’d like to work with the most (snap).

One of the most vital figures in the history of cinema, Jean-Luc Goddard, passed away this month. His work revolutionised cinema through its experimentation with narrative, continuity, sound, and camerawork. “Breathless” secured his place in film history, but his career has been prolific and his work is spread across shorts, documentaries, TV series and more than 40 feature-length films. During our last SP masterclass, the brilliant Teddy Leifer, producer of “All that Breathes”, dished out some amazing film funding advice:

“Tell (on paper) the bits of the story best told on paper, and in the room to a financier. But if you feel like you’ve got an incredible character you’ve got to get that person on tape… you can’t really describe a character, you have to put that person on tape”.
